Having worked in the City for 17 years, I became interested in hypnotherapy after a friend used hypnosis to quit smoking, and I had hypnotherapy in 1998 for the drug-free and virtually painless birth of my son. I was so impressed with the effectiveness of hypnotherapy that I decided to make it my career. I trained with the highly acclaimed Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis and carry diplomas in Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy and Hypnoanalysis and became a full-time hypnotherapist/hypnoanalyst in 2003.
Due to my own positive birth experience, I also trained at St Thomas’ Hospital in London to become a fully licenced Hypnobirthing trainer. I was the first practitioner to offer HypnoBirthing in Colchester and one of the first in Essex, and have helped over 250 couples there to have a better birth experience using HypnoBirthing, before moving back to North Wales in 2016 - where I now offer Hypnobirthing at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
I have had over 12 years experience helping clients to change their eating habits with hypnosis, with the happy side effect of weight loss. This is one of my specialist areas and I have trained extensively in the use of hypnosis for losing weight, most recently joining the highly acclaimed Association of Weight Loss Hypnotherapists, chaired by the irrepressible Steve Miller (of TV's "Fat Families" fame).
Having helped many people with weight and body image issues, I undertook specialist eating disorders training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in 2006 and am fully qualified to help people, using counselling, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and/or hypnotherapy, with all eating and body-image disorders, including Bulimia, Body Dysmorphia, Anorexia (under medical supervision), Obesity, Failed Dieting, and Binge Eating Disorder.
I now have over 3,500 hours practical experience and am bound by my governing body to complete at least 15 hours per annum of additional training.
I am a member of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, the Association of Weight Loss Hypnotherapists ("AWLH"), an Affiliate Member of the National Centre for Eating Disorders, and am governed by a strict code of ethics and confidentiality, and carry full professional indemnity insurance.
